Bouldering in Bishop California
We are in Bishop California now! Because of all the park access problems (due to the government shutdown) in Red Rocks we decided to head to Bishop where we knew all the climbing was open and begging for us to come get on it. Bishop is amazing, the bouldering is world class and the setting is breathtaking. Bishop sits in the Owen River Valley between the White Mountain Range and the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range. The bouldering here is really unique because there are two extremely different areas to climb in. The Buttermilk boulders sit right below Mount Tom (Sierra Nevada's) and are granite. The areas called the Happies and the Sads are both boulder-strewn canyons cut into the edge of the vast volcanic tableland that forms a giant plateau in the valley. These boulders are made of volcanic tuff and form gymnastic and powerful routes. We are loving both areas and climbing as much as our skin will allow! Here are some pictures from both climbing areas:
